Make-up tips for when you're working out

The last thing we want when working out is to have our make-up melting down our faces, clogging up our pores and leaving us with spots splattered all over our face.
This of course only applies if you do wear make-up whilst working out.
For those of you who prefer to wear a bit of make-up, or have been wearing it during the day and didn't have time to take it off try these recommended products that aren’t as bad and feel lighter on the skin for when the sweating begins.

WEAR OIL-FREE FOUNDATIONS

Make-up worn during exercise should be oil free so the skin can breaaatthhee. Oil-based products tend to trap the sweat under your make-up …ew. Which can cause it to smear and give you the streaky look. Even worse, you could end up with a spot…or two with oil-based products.
How about trying something like Nutrogena Skin Clearing Liquid Make Up?

HYDRATE YOUR SKIN

This is really important especially since your body is losing a lot of water as you sweat. If you’re prone to breakouts, oil-based moisturisers can cause acne, whiteheads, and blackheads. So, try to look for a lightweight moisturiser to help replenish the skin.
A good one that we like is The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion.

TRY SWEATPROOF MASCARA

No one wants to be worrying about dreaded 'panda eyes' when powering through their workout. A great product specially created for active women is Sport FX's Sport Stamina long-lasting and waterproof mascara which is designed to defy sweat whilst you work out and stay smudge-proof for up to 8 hours!

TRY ON TINTED MOISTURISER

If you only need a little coverage go for a tinted moisturiser. Foundation with a heavier coverage has more pigment and is more likely to get caught in your pores and then cause breakouts.

GIVE YOUR CHEEKS A GLOW

To give your cheeks some colour swipe on a powder blush that contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These ingredients makes the formula naturally water resistant – so it’s perfect for those of you that tend to sweat A LOT. Try not to over do it tough since you might go red from working out! Avoid cream blushes as they contain oil which can clog up those pores and result in breakouts.

USE TINTED SUNSCREEN

If you are lucky enough to be exercising in an area that has lots of sun then use a tinted sunscreen instead of foundation. Products like this are great at multitasking as they protect your skin from harmful UV rays, offer coverage, and help moisturise your skin.

CONCEAL THOSE BLEMISHES

If you have one serious spot or a few blemishes to cover up, go for a concealer that contains blemish-blasting salicyclic acid. This will cover it up but also heal your problem area at the same time. Plus, you won’t have to wear a full face of foundation trying to cover a few imperfections.
An example of a product that has that ingredient is Almay Clear Complexion Concealer.  

SET YOUR MAKE-UP

A face spray is essential pre and post-workout. What it does is, it keeps your oil-free make-up in place and help you cool off after you exercise, as well as rehydrate dehydrated skin. Perfect. Any make-up finishing spray will do.
 
You're all beautiful the way you are, so you don't actually need the make-up. However, if you do wear it, try to use these tips to prevent breakouts, clogging up the pores and spots.
