How to Stop the Curse of the New Year’s Resolution!

It is said that 60% of people who start a resolution to become healthier stop their resolution within the first month: but not YOU! ❌


Here are my top tips to overcoming the Curse of the New Year’s Resolution!


So you’ve set yourself a new year’s resolution to become fitter and healthier? Feeling like you’re starting to not quite commit fully? Well don’t you worry, you are not alone! It is a natural and very common thing for lots of people to caught up in the hype of ‘New Year, New Me’ and to then start to lose pace during the first month of the year. This is because we try to change too much at once, rather than introduce small, sustainable changes to our habits. You are not the first person to feel like they are not going to achieve something they have set out to do; but, by following my top tips for overcoming the curse of the New Year’s resolution; you’ll achieve your goals with style and sass in 2019! 💁‍♀


It is important not to be so hard on yourself. It is time to get you re-organised and motivated again! Grab a glass of water or a green tea 🍵 and get reading the following: 


Tip 1: Remind yourself why you started 💭

By looking back on the goals you set earlier in the year, it will make it much easier for you to get back on track. Remind yourself why you started and what your end goal is. You are far more likely to stay on-board the motivation train if you do this. Grab your diary and re-read your written goals or get writing them down if you haven’t already!

Another way to stay in control is to start planning your week. Book your workouts in your diary, plan your meals and diarise your time for self care. If it is your workout plan which you feel is contributing towards your lack of motivation, change it up! Try a different program you may enjoy more! Tip 2: Lose the excuses 🗑

Excuses are an easy way to try to justify to ourselves why we are not prioritising time for ourselves. Making excuses can come very easily when we feel like we’re falling off track; especially excuses involving putting others before yourself and your workout. If you are able to, rise and grind my darling! Try and get your workout done in the morning (before your brain knows what you’re doing!). Use this time as undisturbed time to do something for YOU.

Tip 3: Think like the Tortoise, not the Hare 🐢

You will not achieve your goal overnight. It will take time for you to start seeing a change in your body and mentality towards your health so try to have faith in the process. You must be enjoying what you’re doing and if you’re not, you’re far more likely to feel like you are failing. If you are not enjoying what you are eating or the workouts you are doing, make a change! Adapt. Otherwise you will make yourself miserable and it will all start to feel like a chore.


Tip 4: Celebrate your achievements 🏆

Always celebrate your wins! Big or small, progress is progress! Woke up at 5am and smashed a workout? Great! Celebrate by taking some extra time with your loved ones, or time for yourself later in the day when you would have otherwise been working out. Reached one of your inch-loss targets? Amazing! Treat yourself to a new item of clothing or even just take a day off to do whatever you want!

Your achievements are personal to you. Finally mastering that squat technique; reaching your first weight loss target or sticking to your meal and exercise plan for the whole week. Celebrate the small wins! We love to see them on your socials as well! #rwlfitties


Tip 5: Create more motivation 💪

You are in control of your own motivation. It comes from within. You can create your own motivation by booking a holiday; setting a date for your wedding or entering yourself into a fun run or charity event. You will also create your own motivation by seeing changes in yourself physically and mentally. This is why photos for comparing and recording your measurements are so important!

Tip 6: Find your tribe 💕
