The 5 elements of fitness.

If you workout regularly, it is easy to fall into the habit of doing the same set of exercises EVERY TIME! This may make your workouts feel more comfortable. but this comfort comes with a cost.

If you keep doing the same exercises then they become easier over time. In fact, your muscles, nervous system and other physiological systems can adapt to a workout routine in as little as 6-8 weeks. You're not challenging yourself. If you don't change it up a bit then your fitness level will plateau.

To maintain a healthy and challenging exercise regime it is important to diversify your workouts with a variety of activities. Make sure you cover the 5 main elements of fitness. But how do you know how to cover them all without having to pay silly amounts for the gym and for a PT?

Here are the 5 elements we cover on all our workouts;

AEROBIC EXERCISE

Most people think of cardio type exercises when they first think about working out. In short, aerobic exercise includes any type of endurance activity that increases your heart rate for a longer period of time. It causes you to breathe faster, maximises the oxygen level in your blood and uses your larger muscle groups.

There's looooads of types of aerobic exercises to choose from like, walking, jogging, swimming etc. But for best results we suggest to include a variety of exercises in your routine and SPICE IT UP 🌶 That's why we include dancing and aerobics within our plans.

If you always complete the same workout you will get bored and eventually hit your fitness plateau in 2 months or less. That's why our plans at Results with Lucy gives you detailed plans that make sure you don't get bored. We make sure you alternate easy days with hard days to vary the effort you put into exercising.

STRENGTH TRAINING

Let me tell you this now. If you do the same squats every day, it will be harder to build muscle on your glutes if you don't add variety 🍑 Strength training, which is also known as resistance training, use a stimulus such as a weight to give your muscles something to work against. To continue to strengthen your muscles you need to introduce new resistances. That can be heavier weights or even resistance bands.

Adding variety to your strength training workouts is also important. We have a filters section so you can choose what type of workout you want to do. Pilates is a popular one as it works on the strength of your core, arms and other isolated body parts. What's best is that you can do all this gym free at Results with Lucy.

CORE TRIANING

Core training is crucial to good fitness and posture! You may not be getting a balanced workout if you only focus on aerobic and/or strength training that targets predominately your arms and legs.

Core exercises work the muscles in your stomach, pelvis, and lower back. You cannot ignore this type of training and we certainly haven't in our plans with workouts dedicated to the core muscles.

BALANCE TRAINING

A lot of people overlook this. "I'm not a gymnast or dancer to be working on my balance"....errrmmm trust me, you need it. Your balance become increasingly important as your age increases. Without good balance you're more likely to fall or become injured which could put all of your other exercise plans on hold.

STRETCHING

If you lack flexibility, your range of movement will be limited. 

 Taking time to improve your flexibility will help you move your muscles and joints through a full range of motion which can help you keep them strong and healthy. Why you ask? It's simply because you'll be able to perform more movements in it's full range of motion.
We provide cool down sessions and stretching sessions which target arms, shoulders, chest, abdomen, back, legs and hips.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

The best way to avoid fitness plateau is to chose a plan that has variety of WORKOUTS as well as NUTRITION. Not a lot of DVDs offer both therefore you don't get the results you necessarily want.
